He thought this was happiness,
in spite of all that's left of life in this mess.
Breezing thought the work week,
on the weekend he has solace to seek.
Amongst all the bottles and pints,
they look for that elusive thing called 'peace of mind'.
But he keeps all of this problems at bay,
While life kept echoing with laughter,
until, the sun shone on that fateful day.
She came like lightening,
and left like thunder,
in her path causing destruction and blunder.
His mind was left like a blank slate,
and his heart had opened all the flood gates.
Behind his calm demeanor,
his patience grew thinner and thinner.
Thoughts raced at the speed of light,
his insides shouting with all their might.
He wondered to himself, what is all this?
How can his rational mind go into such a tizz?
How can all logic fail?
And how can his thoughts derail?
Hundreds of questions ran through his brain,
the light at the end of the tunnel he wondered,
is it a freight train?
There is rationale and then there is instinct,
and the differences between them are distinct.
And when the two converge, all else ceases to exist,
as life throws the dice for the final twist.
Its is a deadly cocktail,
definitely the final nail.
He knows one thing for sure,
from now onward and hence,
that this is how common turns into uncommon sense.
